Medical Definition of Idionodal
1. Arising from the A-V node itself; applied to the ventricular rhythm in complete S-A or A-V block, or in other forms of A-V dissociation, when the A-V node rather than an ectopic ventricular focus controls the ventricles. More accurately idiojunctional, since it is usually impossible to more accurately locate an "A-V nodal" rhythm; the A-V node is part of the A-V junction. See: idioventricular. (05 Mar 2000)
