Medical Definition of Hypophosphatemia

1. An abnormally decreased level of phosphates in the blood. The manifestations include haemolysis, lassitude, weakness, and convulsions. It may be found in hyperparathyroidism, rickets, osteomalacia, and several renal tubular abnormalities. (12 Dec 1998)
