Medical Definition of Hypometabolic syndrome

A clinical situation suggesting hypothyroidism or myxoedema, in which some tests of thyroid function may be normal and the gland is not obviously atrophic or diseased; indicative of a lack of sensitivity of peripheral tissues to thyroid hormone.
