Medical Definition of Heparinic acid

Sulphated mucopolysaccharide, found in granules of mast cells, that inhibits the action of thrombin on fibrinogen by potentiating antithrombins, thereby interfering with the blood clotting cascade. Platelet factor IV will neutralise heparin.
