Medical Definition of Haematoporphyrin derivative

A complex mixture of monomeric and aggregated porphyrins used in the photodynamic therapy of tumours (haematoporphyrin photoradiation). A purified component of this mixture is known as dihematoporphyrin ether.
Pharmacological action: antineoplastic agent, photosensitizing agents.
