Medical Definition of Fragmentation myocarditis
1. Fragmentation of the myocardium as the result of inflammation. Giant cell myocarditis, acute isolated myocarditis characterised by infiltration by granulomas containing giant cells. Idiopathic myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle of unknown origin. Indurative myocarditis, chronic myocarditis leading to hardening of the muscular wall of the heart. Toxic myocarditis, inflammation of heart muscle caused by any noxious chemical, e.g., alcohol, heavy metals. (05 Mar 2000)
