1. An anti-inflammatory analgesic and antipyretic of the phenylalkynoic acid series. It has also been proposed as an antirheumatic and has been shown to reduce bone resorption in periodontal disease by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase. Pharmacological action: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, cyclooxygenase inhibitors.
