Medical Definition of Feline sarcoma
1.
An oncogene carried by one of the strains of the feline sarcoma virus (the Snyder-Theilen strain, Garden-Rasheed strain, McDonough strain). It causes the development of sarcoma tumours in cats. The normal product of the gene (as a proto-oncogene) seems to be a kinase enzyme that phosphorylates (attaches phosphate groups to) the amino acid tyrosine in polypeptides.
