1. Inhibits selectively and reversibly the synthesis of two-thirds of nuclear heterogeneous RNA and approximately 95% of mRNA. Drb can markedly increase interferon production by poly I-c-induced human fibroblasts. It is used as a tool in the study of intracellular mechanisms. Pharmacological action: nucleic acid synthesis inhibitors. Chemical name: 1H-Benzimidazole, 5,6-dichloro-1-beta-D-ribofuranosyl- (12 Dec 1998)
