Medical Definition of Cytomegalic inclusion disease

An illness in newborns caused by viral infection, symptoms includefever, cellular enlargement, microscopically-visible clumps of viralparticles or proteins in the cytoplasm and nuclei of affected cells, enlargementof the spleen and liver. Long-term effects of the disease may includemental retardation.
