Medical Definition of Creatine kinase isoenzymes

Three isoenzymes of creatine kinase have been identified in human tissues: mm from skeletal muscle, mb from myocardial tissue and bb from nervous tissue. Plasma from healthy humans contains mm almost exclusively. Elevated mb creatine kinase activity is a possible indicator of myocardial injury.
