Medical Definition of Carbonic anhydrase inhibitor

A group of medications (sulphonamide drugs) which inhibit the enzyme carbonic anhydrase. These medications are used in the treatment of glaucoma.
Examples include acetazolamide, dichlorphenamide and methazolamide.
