1. A genus of the family bunyaviridae containing over 150 viruses, most of which are transmitted by mosquitoes or gnats. They are arranged in serogroups which include bunyamwera group viruses (containing the type species, bunyamwera virus), california group viruses, simbu group viruses, and guama group viruses.
