Medical Definition of Arterial plethysmography
1.
A test which measures the systolic blood pressure of a normal extremity compared to an upper extremity. The test is usually used to detect arterial blockage in the lower extremities.
There should be less than 20 mm of Hg difference in systolic blood pressure between the upper and lower extremities. More than this can indicate arterial occlusive disease or arterial blockage.
