Medical Definition of Argininosuccinate synthase

An enzyme of the urea cycle that catalyses the formation of argininosuccinic acid from citrulline and aspartic acid in the presence of ATP. Absence or defect of this enzyme causes the metabolic disease citrullinaemia in man.
