Medical Definition of Area gastrica
1. One of a number of small polygonal area's, 1-6 mm in diameter, separated by linear depressions on the surface of the mucous membrane of the stomach; they contain the gastric pits, with several gastric glands opening into each pit. Synonym: area gastrica. (05 Mar 2000)
