Many are sympathomimetic and central nervous system stimulators causing excitation, vasopression, bronchodilation, and to varying degrees, anorexia, analepsis, nasal decongestion, and some smooth muscle relaxation; these agents may be used for fatigue, narcolepsy, parkinsonism, hypotension, or appetite depression; since tolerance is quickly developed, they are potentially prone to abuse and psychic dependence.
