Highly fluorescent anti-infective dye used clinically as a topical antiseptic and experimentally as a mutagen, due to its interaction with DNA. It is also used as intracellular pH indicator.
Pharmacological action: anti-infective agents, local, fluorescent dyes, indicators and reagents, mutagens.
