1. 1-(4-sulfo-1-naphthylazo)-2-naphthol-3,6-disulfonate (trisodium salt);an azo dye; a soluble reddish brown powder, the colour turning to magenta red in solution; used as a food and cosmetic colouring agent, and occasionally in histology. Origin: G. Amaranthon, a never-fading flower (05 Mar 2000)
