1. Type of hyperplastic cholecystosis, increase in number and height of mucosal folds, secondary to hyperplasia of mucosal and muscular elements, Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses (intramural diverticula), 5% of all cholecystecomies, greater than 35 years; M:F = 1:3 associated with: gallstones in 25-75%, cholesterolosis in 33% findings: pearl necklace gallbladder, may have smooth sessile fundal mass in gall bladder, may have an hourglass configuration with transverse septum (12 Dec 1998)
