Medical Definition of Acylamidase

An enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of monocarboxylic amides to free acid plus NH3; ω-amidase acts on amides such as alpha-ketoglutaramic acid and alpha-ketosuccinamic acid.
Synonym: acylamidase.
