Medical Definition of Shiga like toxin

Group of structurally related toxins that block eukaryotic protein synthesis by cleaving the 28S rRNA subunit of ribosomes.
Examples: Shiga toxin, Shiga like toxins SLT 1 and SLT 2 of Escherichia coli.
