1. Small free swimming marine organism, member of the Phylum Ctenophora. Roughly spherical and transparent with most of the body made up from transparent jelly like material. The animal has two long tentacles for catching prey and swim by means of 8 rows of comb plates (made of fused cilia) that run along the body.
