Medical Definition of Type 1 diabetes

Also referred to as juvenile onset diabetes. Underlying cause is likely genetic. Usually treated with daily insulin dosing. Insulin is necessary for the body to properly utilise glucose. Without insulin, glucose accumulates in the bloodstream.
