Medical Definition of Tunicamycin

1. Nucleoside antibiotics from Streptomyces lysosuperificus that act in eukaryotic cells to inhibit N glycosylation. Tunicamycin inhibits the first step in synthesis of the dolichol linked oligosaccharide, by preventing the addition of N acetylglucosamine to dolichol phosphate.
