Medical Definition of Tumour lysis syndrome

1. A syndrome resulting from cytotoxic therapy, occurring generally in aggressive, rapidly proliferating lymphoproliferative disorders. It is characterised by combinations of hyperuricaemia, lactic acidosis, hyperkalaemia, hyperphosphatemia and hypocalcaemia. (12 Dec 1998)
