Medical Definition of Sincalide

1. 1-de(5-oxo-l-proline)-2-de-l-glutamine-5-l-methioninecaerulein. The eight-amino-acid carbon-terminal fragment and physiologically active portion of the cholecystokinin-pancreozymin molecule. It stimulates the GI tract, especially gallbladder and pancreas, and has many, often depressant, effects on the CNS. It is also a neurotransmitter. It is used to diagnose gallbladder disease and has also been proposed as an anorexic. Its amino acid sequence is: l-asp-(o-sulfo)-l-tyr-l-met-l-gly-l-trp-l-met-l-alpha-asp-l-phe-amide.
