1. The remains of the umbilical vein running within the free edge of the falciform ligament from umbilicus to the liver, where it continues within the fissure for the round ligament to the origin of the left portal vein within the porta hepatis. Synonym: ligamentum teres hepatis. (05 Mar 2000)
