1. Noun. A chronic form of spondylitis primarily in males and marked by impaired mobility of the spine; sometimes leads to ankylosis.


Medical Definition of Rheumatoid spondylitis

1. A polyarthritis involving the spine, which is characterised by progressive, painful stiffening of the joints and ligaments. It almost exclusively affects young men.
