Medical Definition of Plasmacytoma

1. Malignant tumour of plasma cells, very similar to a myeloma (plasmacytomas usually develop into multiple myeloma). Can easily be induced in rodents by the injection of complete Freund's adjuvant. Plasmacytoma cells are fused with primed lymphocytes in the production of monoclonal antibodies. This entry appears with permission from the Dictionary of Cell and Molecular Biology (11 Mar 2008)
