1. The two longitudinal ridges, anterior and posterior, in the mucous membrane lining the cervix uteri, from which numerous secondary folds, or rugae, branch off. Synonym: plicae palmatae, arbor vitae uteri, lyra uterina. (05 Mar 2000)
