1. Alpha-(chloromethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitro-1h-imidazole-1-ethanol. A nitroimidazole antiprotozoal agent used in ameba and trichomonas infections. It is partially plasma-bound and also has radiation-sensitizing action. Pharmacological action: amebicides, antitrichomonal agents, radiation-sensitizing agents. Chemical name: 1H-Imidazole-1-ethanol, alpha-(chloromethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitro- (12 Dec 1998)
