1. A specific infectious disease of cattle, caused by a togavirus; characterised by ulceration of the mouth, pharynx, oesophagus, and sometimes the stomachs and intestines; may or may not be accompanied by severe diarrhoea. Synonym: mucosal disease. (05 Mar 2000)
