Medical Definition of Methoxamine

1. An alpha-adrenergic agonist that causes prolonged peripheral vasoconstriction. It has little if any direct effect on the central nervous system. Pharmacological action: adrenergic alpha-agonists, sympathomimetic, vasoconstrictor agents. Chemical name: Benzenemethanol, alpha-(1-aminoethyl)-2,5-dimethoxy- (12 Dec 1998)
