1. A genus of nematode lungworms (family Metastrongylidae), the only genus in its subfamily (Metastrongylinae). The four known species are found only in pigs; transmission is by earthworm intermediate hosts. Origin: meta-+ G. Strongylos, round (05 Mar 2000)
