Medical Definition of Macrocytic hyperchromia
1. Hyperchromatic macrocythemia; a misnomer inasmuch as the red blood cells are larger than normal, the total amount of haemoglobin per cell is increased, but the percentage of haemoglobin per cell is usually in the normochromic range. (05 Mar 2000)
