1. A group of acylated oligopeptides produced by actinomycetes that function as protease inhibitors. They have been known to inhibit to varying degrees trypsin, plasmin, kallikrein, papain and the cathepsins. Pharmacological action: protease inhibitors. (12 Dec 1998)
