Medical Definition of Hypophysitis

1. Inflammation of the hypophysis. Lymphocytic hypophysitis, an acute anterior pituitary lymphocytic reaction characterised clinically by signs and symptoms of anterior pituitary insufficiency; probably an autoimmune disorder because antipituitary antibodies are present in the serum.
