Medical Definition of Germine
1. An alkaloid that occurs in Veratrum and Zygandenus species. The drug, like veratrine and veratridine, induces repetitive discharges in nerve cells, seemingly due to derangements in sodium channel function. Often used as the acetate or diacetate derivative. (05 Mar 2000)
