Medical Definition of Entomophthoramycosis

1. A disease caused by fungi of the genera Basidiobolus or Conididiobolus; tissues are invaded by broad nonseptate hyphae that become surrounded by eosinophilic material. A form of zygomycosis. See: zygomycosis. Synonym: rhinomucormycosis, rhinophycomycosis, subcutaneous phycomycosis. Origin: Entomophthorales (order name) + G. Mykes, fungus + -osis, condition (05 Mar 2000)
