Medical Definition of Dyphylline

1. 7-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-1,3-dimethylxanthine. A theophylline derivative with broncho- and vasodilator properties. It is used in the treatment of asthma, cardiac dyspnea, and bronchitis. Pharmacological action: bronchodilator agents, phosphodiesterase inhibitors, vasodilator agents. Chemical name: 1H-Purine-2,6-dione, 7-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-3,7-dihydro-1,3-dimethyl- (12 Dec 1998)
