1. Eimeria tenella, a species producing caecal coccidiosis of young chicks; Eimeria necatrix, producing severe disease in the small intestine and ceca; Eimeria acervulina, Eimeria hagani, and Eimeria praecox, which localise in the duodenum; Eimeria mitis localises in the small intestine, Eimeria brunetti in the lower small intestine and rectum, and Eimeria maxima in the lower small intestine.
