1. Incision into the gallbladder. Synonym: cholecystomy. Origin: chole-+ G. Kystis, bladder, + tome, incision Laparoscopic cholecystotomy, minimally invasive surgical technique for removal of the gallbladder that uses a laparoscope for visualization of the gallbladder and placement of instruments into the abdominal cavity through trocars, therefore avoiding the traditional incision.
