Medical Definition of Charcot-marie disease

1. A hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait and characterised by progressive distal wasting and loss of reflexes in the muscles of the legs (occasionally of the arms). Onset is usually in the second to fourth decades. (12 Dec 1998)
