In dentistry, application of forces between the maxillae and mandible at a single point located as near as possible to the centre of the supporting areas of the upper and lower jaws; used for the purpose of distributing closing forces evenly throughout the areas of the supporting structures during the recording of maxillomandibular (jaw) relations and during the correction of occlusal errors.
