Origin, usually a terminal branch of the thyrocervical trunk (along with interior thyroid artery); distribution, muscles of neck and spinal cord; anastomoses, branches of vertebral, occipital, ascending pharyngeal, and deep cervical.
Synonym: arteria cervicalis ascendens, cervicalis ascendens.
