Medical Definition of Aminopherases

1. Enzymes transferring amino groups between an amino acid to (usually) a 2-keto acid; e.g., l-alanine and 2-ketoglutarate. Often, the amino acid is an alpha-amino acid. Synonym: aminopherases, transaminases. (05 Mar 2000)
