Medical Definition of CA-125

1. A protein which can be found in the blood, it is useful for detecting and evaluating ovarian cancer. Carbohydrate antigen most commonly seen in tumours of the ovary and occasionally seen in breast, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract tumours and normal tissue. CA-125 is clearly tumour-associated but not tumour-specific. (12 Jul 2000)
